Spotlight on the NYC Vegan Scene: Veganizer NYC!

Ever wonder how cool it would be if you could go into any restaurant and order a vegan dish? Where you could order the tiramisu because it was totally vegan? Or not have to worry about meat in your pasta sauce or dairy ending up in a sauce? This is happening in NYC by Kiki Adami and Hadara Slok, two dedicated vegans who help different restaurants in the city create an entire vegan menu for one night.

The NYC Vegan Scene

I am now in my second year living in New York City and I have never experienced such an incredible vegan scene. Not only have I become friends with fellow vegans but I can't walk down the street without running into a juice bar or a vegan restaurant. You can lose weight or gain weight when you move here, depending on where you came from. I have tasted some amazing smoothies, cheesy vegan sandwiches, raw desserts and fresh, amazing juices. Now, when I go home to visit my family in the burbs, I feel so limited because there are so few vegan places.

Where To Eat Vegan In New York City

What are some good vegan restaurants to visit in New York City? I have a few blog posts about eating vegan in NYC but here is a quick list of restaurants and cafes I have tried!  It will change as I explore the city even more. The vegan scene in NYC is amazing! You can almost always find fresh organic vegan food in whatever neighborhood you are in or someplace nearby. I encourage you to try as many places as you can so you can support local plant based businesses and help the vegan scene grow even more. Hope you have a blast looking through my list and making plans!

Spotlight on Local Plant-Based Business: Organic Gemini

I had the pleasure recently of reviewing some amazing products from Organic Gemini, a company that makes delicious food and drinks from Tigernuts, root veggies that are sweet and fibrous. The company sent me different flavors of their horchata drinks, cold pressed drinks that are similar to milk but come in various flavors. I urge you to try all of them but my favorite was the coffee flavored drink! Head over to organicgemini.com to learn more about tigernuts and to hear the story of how Miriam and George founded the company in 2013.

Flashback Friday: My Favorite NYC Vegan Restaurants

It's so easy to eat vegan in New York City; actually the hardest part for me is resisting the urge to spend money on take out or stopping at a restaurant.  It's impossible not to walk down the street and see a vegan dish on a menu anywhere.  That's one of the many reasons why I love this city.

My Favorite Vegan Eats in New York City

One of the best things about moving to the Big Apple is experiencing all the vegan food the city has to offer.  I have tasted some delicious dishes over the past two months and I want to share with you the different places I've visited.  Not every restaurant I mention is vegan but I believe it is important to note all restaurants who are making an effort to have vegan options on their menu. When I came up with the idea to do this post, I met a fellow blogger who does Friday Features on her blog where she features her favorite vegan and gluten free restaurant in NYC.  I love connecting with fellow bloggers so we met up at a vegan restaurant in Brooklyn and talked about a joint post.  We talked all about our blogs, Instagram, connecting with followers, our vegan and gluten free meals and more.  We ate super healthy meals at Bliss on Grand St in Brooklyn then went to a vegan and GF bakery a few doors down from the restaurant.  We also stopped in Whisk, a vegan food bloggers heaven

Is the Summer Really Going?

I can't believe this is the last weekend of summer!  I must say I am looking forward to fall but this summer just seemed to fly by, I feel like the kids were just getting out of school.  And the weather didn't feel all that summer-like although not getting headaches from the humidity was fabulous!

Super Clean Meal Ideas

This weekend was officially my first free weekend without having to go to yoga teacher training; I'll be honest I was worried about it because I wasn't going to have the structure and peer interaction I had over the past six weekends.  I spent so many hours with the same awesome group of people and I wasn't sure how I was going to handle not having that time with them.  But all my worrying was for nothing because I spent alot of time with my yoga friends anyway and just explored this beautiful, vibrant, crazy city!  My favorite area is 59th and 5th right at the park.  It's crowded and crazy and sooooo New York.  I just walked for hours, enjoying the sights and sounds of NYC, meeting up with friends for drinks or sushi or a stroll in the park, it was such a wonderful weekend!

NYC Vegan Eats

Babycakes NYC goodies So, I've only been in the city a month but I have to tell you about some of my favorite places for vegan eats thus far...I try not to spend money needlessly, especially when I love to cook and I came to New York with a ton of food but sometimes you need to splurge and order takeout or go to a restaurant!

Spotlight on Small Business: Sweet Debbie's Organic Treats Vegan Bakery

I just published a new interview on my website with Debbie Adler, owner of Sweet Debbie's Organic Treats, a vegan bakery in Pasadena, California.  If you're in that area, I suggest you visit her bakery because her treats look divine!  If you're not in the area, Debbie has a cookbook!

Vge Cafe

I just had an amazing rice bowl lunch from Vge Cafe in Bryn Mawr, PA, if anyone lives in the area. They are an all vegan cafe selling lunch dinner, drink and desserts. I know everyone who reads this is not from the philly area so I'm going to attempt to recreate this dish in my kitchen. I've been wanting to make falafals and veggie burgers from scratch so I will just add them to a rice bowl with lots of fresh veggies. I'm so full! It was a very satisfying lunch. This is on my agenda to recreate:
