Dark Chocolate with Raisins

I bought all this dark chocolate at Trader Joe's and most of it is plain, which is fine. But I also bought organic raisins and was thinking....chocolate with raisins....yum. Yummy and chewy. Yes! So I made my own chocolate last night with the help of some of my Trader Joe's chocolate bars. It's so amazing sinking your teeth into chocolate with chewy raisins in the middle.

This chocolate recipe is simple but I didn't have a ton of coconut oil left and no nut butters so I melted half of a Trader Joe's dark chocolate bar into this recipe. It's not required but it helped since I didn't have enough coconut oil and it also helped boost the sweetness (I also didn't have a ton of agave). You can always melt a plain chocolate bars, pour into bar molds and add raisins or nuts any time you wish. You don't ever have to make chocolate from scratch, just use an existing bar and add your extras. But if you wish to make chocolate from scratch, it's so easy, your place will smell like delish chocolate and you can control what ingredients you add and how much you make. It's such an easy recipe and whala, you have dark chocolate ready to eat!

Use this recipe to make your own chocolate and melt in a chocolate bar if you wish, it's not required.

1/2 cup of coconut oil
1/2 cup of cocoa powder
1/4 cup of maple syrup or agave
1/2 bar of dark chocolate
Raisins

In a small pan, combine all the ingredients except the raisins and melt on low heat. Taste and add more sweetener if needed. Mix until completely heated, melted and smooth. Pour into bar molds, push some raisins into the chocolate and freeze. You can also sprinkle some sea salt on top of the chocolate bars. Keep in the freezer until ready to eat. They are easy to eat even when frozen.
