This smoothie made me smile today. Beets are sweet and delicious and nutritious. I buy mine at Trader Joe's- they are already peeled and ready to eat. Grab some organic beets next time you're out. You can bake them, put them in smoothies, juice them, lots of ways you can use them.
Beet banana smoothie:
4 small beets
1 container of soy yogurt
1 frozen banana
Filtered water
2 scoops of vanilla protein powder
Blend everything on high. Add the filtered water to dilute the smoothie. Pour in your favorite glass. I didn't add anything to mine as far as toppings go. If you don't use or have protein powder, add a little bit of vanilla extract and 2-3 pitted medjool dates or 2 tbsp of maple syrup to increase the sweeteness.
I ran out of protein powder so I quickly placed an Arbonne order this morning. I ordered more protein powder, some omega supplements and hair and skin care stuff. While I'm waiting for that, I'm going to branch out from the breakfast smoothies and make some different dishes. I also need to stock up on bananas. Check out the blog this week for some new recipes.
