My juicer is at home in PA because it was too complicated to move it to NYC plus I have no room for it. But even if you have no juicer, you can still make green juice (or any juice). You will have pulp but you can save that for a recipe or just eat it separate from the juice.
I went to the farmers market in Union Square on Saturday on a mission to find organic greens and berries. I woke up early and got there early and it was awesome; I bought organic strawberries and a ton of organic greens, cucumber, kale, spinach, lettuce and I also bought potatoes. I love summer in season produce! I've been waiting all winter for the strawberries!
Anyway, I woke up today wanting green juice so I pulled out my awesome strainer and went to town with my Ninja and a bunch of veggies. Here is my recipe:
1 mango
Juice from two lemons
1 handful of organic spinach
3 kale leaves
1/4 of an organic cucumber
2 green chard leaves
16 oz of coconut water
Juice from two lemons
1 handful of organic spinach
3 kale leaves
1/4 of an organic cucumber
2 green chard leaves
16 oz of coconut water
Add all the produce to your blender and then add the coconut water. Blend on high for 1 min. Using your strainer, pour the blender contents over the strainer and a bowl and move the pulp around, squeezing the juice from it. Pour the entire contents of the blender through the strainer, squeezing the pulp and setting it aside. Pour the green juice into your favorite cup, add ice and bliss out!
Of course, after all of this, I forgot to add spices. So feel free to add some ginger or any other spice you love. This juice is so easy! The mango adds the perfect touch of sweetness and the greens are just so filled with antioxidants and fiber. Don't forget to save the pulp, don't throw it out! Add it to a smoothie, add to a dish that you're preparing or just down it like I did. I can't stare at pulp in my strainer without eating it!
Have a beautiful Monday! What are you making for dinner today?
