Three ingredients and a whole lotta awesomeness. I often find myself in the jam aisle at the grocery store pondering what to get and trying to find the jam with the least amount of sugar. Even if the jam is made with natural fruit sugars, there is always some kind of preservative or something I don't want in it. So, I thought, let me just make my own jam. It turned out fabulous and I just had to share.
6 strawberries
5 soft medjool dates, pitted
1 1/2 tbsp of chia seeds
Put the strawberries and pitted dates in your food processor and process until completely blended. The strawberries should have enough water in them to keep your processor moving without you having to add extra water. Scoop the jam into a bowl and mix in the chia seeds making sure you mix well. Put the jam into a jam jar and store for use throughout the week. This is excellent on toast and you won't get that sugary hangover.
The chia seeds will give you that burst of energy you need in the morning plus they are packed with fiber, omegas and protein. You can also make this jam with raspberries, blueberries or any of your other favorite fruits. You just need a food processor and a cute little jar for storing it.
What is your favorite jam recipe? Did you like me on facebook yet?
